AGM Minutes - 26th June 2023

1 - Present from League Management team – Gavin Logan, Brian Curry, John Neville, Karen Parton, Michelle Clegg, Nic Jones, Lee Beck, Jack Flatters, Ian Vaines Jon Stead, Mark Thompson.

Apologies – Faye Geary and David Roe.

Brian Curry (Chairman) welcomed all club’s present to the Annual General Meeting AGM and officially read the notice to open the meeting of the members of the Barnsley & District Junior League.

2 - Roll Call – Roll call was read out twice during the meeting, following clubs where absent and will be fined £25 in accordance with League Rules for non-attendance at the AGM - Brierley Cubs, Dale Juniors, Dearne Dragons, Durkar Juniors, Frickley Athletic, Grimethorpe LLUK, Hemsworth Town, Redfearn’s Juniors, Royston Dynamos, Upton United, Walton United, West Bretton.

Three new clubs attended the meeting, Hemsworth Town, West End Terriers, and Worsbrough Bridge. All Member Clubs present were asked if there were any objections to these Clubs joining the League. No objections received and a show of hands was unanimous, all Clubs welcomed into the League subject to FA Sanctioning.

3 – To approve the Minutes of the AGM – 6th June 2022

The Minutes from the AGM held on the 6th June 2022 were approved for content and accuracy.

4 – To approve the Minutes of the last League Meeting – 3rd April 2023

The Minutes from the previous League meeting held on the 3rd April 2023 were approved for content and accuracy.

5 - Chairman’s & Secretary’s annual reports

Were read out and shared thanking all clubs for there ongoing support. It was mentioned how challenging the season had been especially following the previous season when we came out from lockdown. We are looking forward to the new season all working together. 

6 - Accounts

Members received a financial update for the financial year ending 31st May 2023 from Gavin Logan (Treasurer). The Balance Sheet was shared with all club’s present and was explained running through the income and expenditure.

All club’s present was invited to ask if any questions. No questions were received.

One key area of concern which Gavin did raise is around the amount of league fines, this is largely due to clubs not attending league meetings and not completing the necessary team sheets correctly. All clubs are reminded that any member of your club can represent them, does not need to be the secretary.

Member Clubs were asked to approve the accounts.

Proposed Thornes Juniors, Seconded – Junior Tykes and unanimously agreed by all Member Clubs.    

7 - Election of Officers/Management Team - Gavin Logan advised the attendees at the meeting at this point all the Officers of the League and the Members of Management Team have now stepped down from their respective roles and responsibilities and advised they are all happy to be re-elected back onto the League Management Team for a further year subject to the approval from the member clubs. Members were asked by Brian Curry (Current Chairman), if anyone wishes to put their names forward to join the League Management Team, no nominations came forward. Gavin Logan (Current Secretary) then asked all clubs represented to vote on whether they were in agreement for the Officers to remain in their position, each Club could have one vote only. The vote was unanimous, no objections received, and all the incoming Officers accepted the roles and therefore remain in their positions for season 2023 -2024 season as below.

Gavin then advised that the League had received two new nomination requests to join the Management team and asked the ‘floor’ for a second time if anyone else wished to join the Management team – no one stepped forward. The 2 new nominations as follows – Mark Thompson and Jon Stead. Members from all Clubs present was asked to vote, this was unanimous, and all nominations accepted and welcomed onto the new Management Team.

8 - FA SCORY & League Rules

Copy of the SCORY RULES, and DOMESTIC RULES for the 2023- 2024 season have been emailed together with the LEAGUE HANDBOOK to all club secretaries. Rewording and changes have been highlighted and will be updated onto the league website as soon as possible following the AGM, Gavin read the changes and asked all Club Members present to please feedback to their teams and familiarise yourselves with the changes.

Key changes to the Domestic Rules - No matches will be scheduled over the Christmas period or on Easter Sunday. Please expect to play on all other Sundays throughout the Calendar Season.

Reporting of results is responsibility of both Managers/Teams and must be completed and sent to your respective registrars on the same day of your matches to be received before 5pm on a Sunday and 8.30pm if midweek.

Maximum number of player registrations per squad as follows:

5v5 = 10 players, 7v7 = 14 players
9v9 = 14 players, 11v11 = 16 players

Kick Off times have altered slightly. Months of Sept, Oct, March & April - 9.30 to 2.30pm. Nov, Dec, Jan & Feb - 9.30 to 2.00pm

Pass back rule is mandatory and must be followed.

The league has also taken on board comments made around the cup competitions; we are currently looking various formats with the FA change for next season.

League Rule Updates & season start and end dates - Season starts 10th Sept 2023 - Ends 19th May 2024.

9 - Affiliations, Forms & Registrations - Gavin advised that the Affiliation is now open for Clubs. All forms to register with the League are now live on the League Website. Player registration window is now open on the WGS. Any registrations submitted onto the WGS after 31st July 2023 will incur a £3 registration fee. 

10 - Next Meeting – Monday 7th August 2023

Brian Curry – Chairman thanked all members for their continued support and outstanding contribution to the success of the league and formally closed the meeting.
